Established in 1907 Ruijing Hospital wasoriginally called Guangci Hospital. It is a general teaching hospital under theShanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine  with a land area of 0.12 million M2, aconstruction area of over 0.15 million M2 and a landscaped area covering nearly30% of the total area. At present there are 1774 sick beds and a staff of over3300 persons, among whom 507 persons hold senior titles. The Hospital owns alarge number of medical experts who enjoy relatively high celebrity both athome and abroad such as Chen Zhu, member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, WangZhengyi, Chen Saijuan, members of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and others.

In 2013 the person-times for outpatientdepartment  and emergency department ofRuijin Hospital reached over 3.28million, the number of the patients whounderwent surgery was 5.5 ten thousand person-times, the number of the patientsdischarged from hospital was 8.5 ten thousand person-times, the days forhospitalization was averaged 8.47 days.
